A Scottish-inspired dinner by Lennox Hastie and home cook/author Ali Stoner (@rovinghaggis)
At first glance, Scotland and Basque Country don’t seem like obvious culinary neighbours. But take a closer look and there’s more connections than you might think.
Both are defined by incredible coastlines and a deep respect for seafood. Both cultures champion local produce, celebrate exceptional beef, embrace cooking over fire and have a healthy respect for using the whole animal.
And then there’s whisky. Scotland’s most iconic spirit owes part of its character to Spain, such as The Glendronach, renowned for maturing its whisky in Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso Sherry casks.
On Tuesday 13 October, we’re bringing the two together at Gildas.
Inspired by Ali Stoner’s (@rovinghaggis) new cookbook Scran and their Scottish heritages, Lennox Hastie and Gildas Head Chef Josh Donachie are creating a five-course dinner that brings Scottish classics into the Basque-inspired world of Gildas. Expect Cullen Sink, tattie scones with crème fraiche and trout roe, porridge focaccia and bone marrow butter, rumbledethumps, Gildas’ signature soft serve inspired by cranachan, with some extra specials to add-on the night including The Glendronach whisky cocktail and haggis croquetas!
Tell your friends and come for a night of scran, whisky and good company!
Event supported by The Glendronach.
